What is a Postpartum Doula

I am an in-home care provider for families who have just had a baby.  I am there to support physical and emotional healing of the parents and baby. I also provide education on care and resources.

  • Support and assistance with infant feeding

  • Education on newborn care and characteristics

  • Education on babywearing

  • Assistance with creating a rhythm for you and baby

  • Provide support to parents and extended family

  • Assistance with household organization (e.g. food prep, bottle cleaning, baby and laundry)

  • Provide resources when support requires a healthcare professional

Daytime Support

Each session is a minimum of 4 hours, our time together is personalized and specific to that day of support. This is a great opportunity to check in on how mom and partner are doing, we observe how baby is doing during feeding, and we go over your goals for the day whether it be getting a nap in, taking a shower, or utilizing my help for baby's laundry.  Most of the time, especially in the early weeks, I provide extensive baby education and resources.

Nighttime Support

Each session is 9 hours. This time is meant to help maximize your sleep. During this time I care for baby and complete household tasks while parents sleep. The beginning of the evening is used for discussions and setting goals for the rest of the night. Based on your feeding plan I will wake mom to breastfeed or I will give a bottle.

Virtual Support

Sometimes just an hour of support with a safe and encouraging space can be extremely helpful. No matter where you are we can connect and talk through your postpartum journey.

I also offer full virtual support which includes 2 weeks of constant support via text, along with 3 1-hour long video calls to be able to work through challenges or discuss newborn care.
